By sharing their findings on a collaborative platform, other students around the world can interact with each other by offering solutions to global issues. What is the water situation in your part of the world and what are you going to do about mine?
Activities in which learners can synthesize information, videos, sounds, images, educational games and links to existing content concerning the water resources and water conservation efforts.
Balance the Power of Water Activity
As an individual or group, research the balance of water in your country; does your community have too much water or too little? What can you do to balance the power of water?
Create a wiki page to showcase with your findings, solutions and actions. You can include any documents/presentation about your country’s water balance made using: Word; Publisher; PowerPoint; MovieMaker; PhotoStory, PhotoSynth; Songsmith; AutoCollage; Prezi; or any other presentation/imaging software. Upload any presentations to the wiki, including a short description (use hash tags to identify your country)
Water Sources Research Activity
As an individual or group, research a source of water in your country and prepare an “information pack” which details the source, its location and importance.
Use a shared OneNote notebook to store your/your groups research in.
Your presentation about your country’s water resource can take be made using: PowerPoint; MovieMaker; PhotoStory, PhotoSynth; Songsmith; AutoCollage; Prezi; or any other presentation software.
Upload your presentation to the wiki, including a short description (use hash tags to identify your country’s resources)
Conservation Research and Awareness Activity
As an individual or group, research water conservation efforts in your country. Create an “information pack” to tell others about these efforts. Include links to NGO’s sites.
Your presentation about your country’s water conservation effort is to be in a wiki format and include links to the conservation organization and any other related links.
Learners are to use hash tags when creating the wiki page.
Water Awareness Campaign Activity
Collaborate with participating countries to create an awareness Campaign material(s); give the campaign a name, logo and mission.
Participate in online discussions and survey your social network using survey monkey. Create wiki pages showcasing your findings, and comment on the finding of other participating countries.
Collaborate on what type of media can be used, who will create what and how and where it will be published.
Campaign in Action Activity
Create Campaign material(s) that will be able to create awareness across countries, cultures and language barriers.
Create your Campaign material(s) using: Publisher; Work; PowerPoint; MovieMaker; PhotoStory, PhotoSynth; Prezi; Songsmith; AutoCollage or any other presentation / desktop publishing software.
Upload materials to the wiki and invite feedback from friends and followers.
Blog the implementation of the materials in your school and local communities.
